Life of I

If this was my story, then I would be in the boat... But no Richard Parker or the others.... Just me and the hyena... The hyena being what should have been Richard Parker.... 10 miles above the depths of the Mariana Trench and 10,000 miles from anywhere else.

Religion is Science we don't understand... yet

Religion is Science we don't understand... yet

If you look back at human history that is what you see... what started off as atavistic fears coalesced around blind faith and shamanistic rituals to form what we know to be primitive religions.

As we started to understand, comprehend and then conquer the world around us, we rearranged the construct to include an all-powerful, all knowing supreme deity who told us what to do and not to do, right down to every last detail.

They say that if you take a battery powered torch a 1000 years back, they would worship you as a God or lynch you as an agent of the devil... so maybe there's something to this... isn't it possible that a 1000 years down the road people will laugh at us for believing in ghosts and the concept of a soul and even God as we understand today?

I'm not an atheist... I just believe that our current (and past) concepts of God are nothing more than a projection of our own hopes and fears... someone who has the power to offer humankind a mulligan every now and then, clean up our mess and of course forgive us and invite us to heaven!

We are too immature, too conceited and too self-obsessed to comprehend the very word God, let alone the mind-bending concepts behind it. I for one believe in a God as a creator, an all-encompassing power behind the known and unknown universe who is within, without and all around us, making us a part of the infinite continuum. But certainly not God the punisher and rewarder and prayer seeker, who has all the powers that human beings secretly desire as well as all the shortcomings that we display. That would be an insult to the very concept we claim to worship, revere, live and die for.

Random thoughts & cheap shots

When you're about to walk on water, and watch the sea birds scatter, the sun pours down like honey, God appears and says "Sonny", don't it blow your wicked mind?"

Kalki Kronicles 01.01.19

Seems to me that the fundamental concept of India and for that matter the notion of a secular and progressive nation is only a flawed reality.

What started as a benign experiment in 1947 borne of the inadvertent unification of a thousand states by a conquering colonizer has gone awry in every way possible.

Be it the rise of the ugly fascist and unholy fundamentalism or the ersatz purveyors of culture or language. Be it the rancid stench of all round corruption or the noxious fumes of corporate greed run amok. Everything points to the indelible fact of life not being as it seems.
A billion people and a million languages, customs, mores and petty causes have reduced the concept of nationhood to a blighted idea that never was. The more I see the less I get the raison d'etre for this country that never was, and never will be.

While we rest on self congratulatory platitudes built upon a dollar and a dream conceived of the greed of corporate nations, I can't help but wonder if all the recent "progress" and supposed achievement is a brief spike in the vital signs of a patient comatose in death"s throes... A last blip on the machine of life, before we disintegrate into war, hatred, greed, corruption, lust and strife.

Kalki Kronicles 01.01.01

The search for love or the pursuit of happiness can often be a fruitless dream, a look so tender, then a moment so obfuscating. An instant of endless joy then a instance of unspeakable pain. One wonders if it exists at all in spirit or is it but a moment in time a phlogiston that materializes for a moment- a life and living so warm and giving... Only to end up leaving you empty and cold like an abandoned alleyway of a desert ghost town.
